Rebecca repairs secondhand clothing all day for it to be re-sold. By repairing and cleaning the clothes she can increase the price by 20 percent. After repairing the items, they can be sold for 40 or 50 Cedi. But on days when the business is bad, she lowers the price to 30 Cedi.
A bill contains more than 40 percent of items which are in too poor a condition to repair and the items therefore end up as trash. The trash leaves Rebecca with a debt from the clothes she can’t sell.
